״He who loves practice without theory is like the sailor who boards a ship without a rudder and compass and never knows where he may cast״

Nissim Portal was born in Marrakesh, Morocco, and immigrated to Israel with his parents and ten brothers when he was 6. The family settled in Kiryat Ata, which was then in its early days. After completing his military service, as a commander in the infantry, he was accepted to study architecture, which he graduated with honors from the Technion's Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning. After graduating, Nissim founded the current office of architects, which after about 40 years of operation, is considered one of the leaders in the northern coastal plain, the Galilee, and the Golan Heights.

Over the years, Nissim has become an expert in Spanish and Moroccan architecture, designing dozens of projects that combine Moroccan, Spanish, and Jerusalem motifs in villas, residential buildings, and religious institutions. The combination of cultural heritage, love of Torah, academic knowledge, and practical experience leads to an accurate result for clients.

As a hobby, Nissim has been certified as a tour guide in Europe. As an architect who breathes the world of art and is knowledgeable in other areas such as music, literature, theater, and cinema, he has built tours for groups that combine stories, humor, and architectural knowledge throughout the visit to tourist sites. The ones who were privileged to be on his tours enjoyed a unique and unconventional experience.

The Portal family belongs to the veterans of the city of Kiryat Ata. Many family members are leading artists in architecture, painting, graphics, design, and music. The preservation of the Jewish tradition while still in the parents' home in Morocco, the love of the Torah, their cultural richness, and thirst for general knowledge made the portal tribe a popular discourse, and they grew to be leading figures in the community.
